Guaranteed recipes to fail...

There are certain things in this world to which we cannot attach a guarantee card, say happiness, love, friendship, affection, hatred, anger and frustration. All these may be counted as emotions or state of the mind, which may even be temporary .i.e. it can be changed by external forces and incidents. And there are others which come with a guarantee; say the TV that comes with a 5 year guarantee or the refrigerator or the air conditioner or the mobile phone or anything that we get to buy in the market.
Almost all manufactured products are offered a guarantee, be it 5 years or 5000 hours or 2 lakh kilometers. All man-made things can be given a surety, while almost all god given gifts cannot. This is the reason as to why we cannot guarantee we’ll be happy even when we earn $1,000,000,000. Who knows, we might be happier as a poor man.
I have heard people state that successes and failures are states of mind and that we have the ability to switch between success and failure. The explanation, I can think of for this, is that both successes and failures are manufactured products that can be bought from the market just like the way we buy a TV for a price. Some people choose to win and the others choose to loose, its not that failure happens automatically – its that they choose to loose. Now thats something very hard to accept, so let me try to convince you.
Failure and success come with a guarantee card that lasts till you buy the next product. If you buy success now, you can continue enjoying successes till you buy another failure product. Now it is very easy to merge the god given products (like love, happiness, affection) with the success product and those like anger, frustration, and hatred with the failure products.

If we learn as to what will make us fail, we may/can refrain from doing it.
1.     Your brain can have n number of earning skills (like painting, singing, accounting, marketing etc), but if you don’t identify as to what you are good at – you can fail.
2.     You can be in the wrong business – like trying to sell type writers in this fast, hi-tech age.
3.     You can be in the right business but at the wrong time – like trying to start an IT industry in these times of recession.
4.     You can be in the right business but with the wrong people – like trying to build a tourism industry with all your partners being doctors.
5.     You are unaware that you are in the right business now – like it happened to millions of people in the 80’s when they were in distribution business and quit half way.
6.     You dont have a mentor to help and guide you.
7.     You are a pessimist – you always expect everything to go wrong, and so it does.
8.     You are a quitter – you give up when you are just 3 feet from gold.
9.     You find excuses and whine for not hitting the target. The more negative you are, the more the chances are that you’ll fail.
10. You don’t let the seed of success to sprout. You are impatient when it takes long to get the results.

I am not quite sure if success is the opposite to failure, but quite sure that success can be bought by deciding not to fail. The guarantee of success is just one sentence “To be in the right business at the right time with the right kind of resources”. If you don’t believe it still, you can ask any winner.
Remember there are 5 crore financially independent families in India. Are you one among them ? Do you have it in you to be one among the next 100 new millionaires in the country?

Relationship is the key...

The most lacking yet the most valued attribute in our life, these days is relationship. Until a few years ago people had the time to be with one another, care for them and fall in love with their personalities. We had the time to stick by our friends in their times of need, so were they with us, during our tough times. A few years back everyone knew you, your family background and we knew them and their family people too. Most of our neighbours were our friends that we didn’t need to have a wall to keep away from them. We loved their company and cheer and they had the freedom to approach us, any time of the day.
Nowadays we’ve isolated ourselves from everyone by building tall fences and locking the gates so that our privacy is not encroached upon, by peeping neighbours. Our work culture is such that not only do we have no time for our family, but we also fail to maintain relationships within our social circle. Due to the restrictions on time we refrain to participate in social activities, help our friends or relatives in some crisis or even simply maintain contact with them. We call up people only when we need help. Have we ever thought of calling up someone to ask “may I help you”?
We are not to be blamed. Had we had the time, we would have cared more and stood by each other in times of need. Lets closely look at the life of a typical nuclear family. The Father goes to work @ 8.00AM, comes back home @ 7.00 PM. Mostly the Mother will be an employee too who leaves for work @ 7.00 AM to return @ 5.00 PM. Now the kid will be with the grandparents or if the kid is school going, they get a maid to sent him to school @ 8.00AM and bring him back from school @ 4.00 PM. Now lets see the quality time a man spends with his wife and kid – hardly 3 hours (neglecting sleep). What if he carries home, some left over work from office???
This again is a totally helpless situation. No one is to blame; we are all leading this kind of life today. Imagine the case if both the man and woman are software professionals? They probably wouldn’t have the time to have a kid even. Now it’s only natural that no one would bother to find out who one’s neighbors are or what they do.
Now in the same family, on one fine day when the Father is @ work and working on some important deadline, suppose the Mother falls ill. Whom can he rely on for helping his wife? I have personally seen situations where people can’t apply for a leave so as to help with some household work. All we can do is pray that tough things don’t happen to people who work hard. But again let me tell you, you are not to be blamed.
The most, most important thing a human wants is recognition, I will bet its not money, lifestyle or things money can buy – but it’s the joy when he gets when his friends applaud him. Corporates like IBM, Walmart and many more recognize this. Would you be happy, when you live in your dream house on a ranch or lake side, with lots of money – but no friends to come? Someone rightly pointed out that man is a social animal, that its when he is in a group that he enjoys the most. Relationship is the key; you first build good relations all else like financial freedom, spare time, more money etc will follow.
Over the next few decades, the most important attribute that is going to be followed by every individual, society, company, corporate giant, any pvt. Organisation or even the government will be to build cordial relationship with others. People will awaken to be 'High-touch' people even in these times of challenging 'Hi-tech' life. There is nothing short of a guarantee that all 'high-touch' organisations will be ruling the business front in every area of functioning. Let’s estimate more number of people will have more time+money to invest in relations when India grows to super power in 2020.

Faith can move mountains for real...

Reading through the great holy books of all time and the wonderful message they convey about faith, it sounds much exaggerated when they say “Faith can move mountains”. I simply could not accept that faith could make the impossible, possible, until recently. What changed my perspective was an audio program that pointed out that faith is just not to move mountains but to do a lot of other things as well.
Faith is the power to persist. Can u think of a simpler, yet convincing definition than this? Faith is really the power that helps you continue to do what you are doing now. Faith is just not the love of god or the love for god. It is the vitamin that let’s you persevere.
We have heard people say that faith can work wonders. Ever wondered how? It is the element that urges you to get out and start hunting for your success. It is the reason why people, in spite of the innumerous rejections and setbacks they face, come back again and perform. It is the reason as to why even when the entire world is against you – you still stand for what you believe in. We have heard of the stories of Socrates, Aristotle, Galileo and many more – who were rejected by people around them when they told the truth. After 4000 years we don’t remember the names of the people who were against them – but we certainly do remember these heroes for their faith.
Relating this to the present day scenario, I think this should give us enough relief when some one rejects us when we come up with an idea to change their financial destiny. Success is not denied to the person who strongly believes that he deserves it. People who have faith in them and Almighty will not be denied success, however delayed the gratification might be.
If we closely analyse any success story, it is always a mixture of failures, bad times, financial struggles, crisis and lot more sad stuffs. Just like a coal under tremendous pressure and heat transforms to a beautiful gem called Diamond, I believe these hurdles are very essential to transform yourselves into a better person. Can you lead a team of 5000 people right now with the skill sets you’ve right now? I really doubt it. Someday when you’ll head an organization, you’ll need to have the skills to communicate, motivate and inspire the mass. Now if you wish to do that someday in your lives, here is what you can do today.
1. Learn to become a leader by changing yourselves gradually.
2. You will be able to do the same to 1 or 2 of your friends or relatives.
3. You continue doing it, and after sometime you might be addressing 40-50 families.
4. Certainly after a while, you will be helping and benefiting more than a 1000 families.
If you dream to build a company of your own, you need to get started. You need to refine your skills, define your goals and targets and obviously have faith in what you’re doing. The example I quoted was no exaggeration; you need to have around 5000 people with you, to set up a sustaining business. For those who think this is impossible, continue doing what you are doing now, because you’ll never get anywhere without faith.
Fortune favours those who work with commitment. In this information age, when a lot many people are losing their jobs and income (predicted by leading economists in 2003-04), entrepreneurship is the name of the game. People who are self-sufficient will ride the tide, for the others it’s like a Tsunami that will sweep away their lifestyles.
It will not be a mistake to say that, there is a power greater than yourself that decides when to favour you with results and achievements; until then have faith and persist.

Everything that goes down can come up...

Everything that goes up must come down. You must have heard this simple explanation of gravity by Sir. Issac Newton. His discovery of gravitational force was a breakthrough in physics since the most elementary laws of physics are based on the so-called gravity. It is the force of gravity that brings any object that is thrown up, back to earth. Now that made me curious of the converse. Could there exist a force that could bring up something that has gone down.
It is a real pleasure to study the human mind in view with the laws of physics. My definition of momentum was a result of such musings. Hopefully you might get excited hearing the mind power equivalent of FORCE.
As we discussed earlier, gravity is the force that attracts any object to the center of the earth. Although not felt, gravity is the most powerful force after the force of electrostatic attraction/repulsion. Now applying the converse of gravitational force to human mind, is there a force that elevates our mind above dampened spirits? Yes, there is and it’s called “Motivation”. Fascinating, right?
When our esteem and confidence goes down, we require an external force to help us bounce back again - that is exactly what power of motivation does. Motivation may be regarded as the human minds equivalent to the force of gravity. Highly powerful but largely unnoticed. We all have been in some tough situations - frustrated, tensed, angry or even depressed. When we are in such a paralyzing state what we lose is our self-esteem, confidence and hope. But people who bounce back in real life actually use the power of motivation.
The force called motivation is very powerful; it can work for you or against. It’s like a two edged sword; you can kill or get killed by the same. Motivation is the main factor that make people go up the corporate ladder and it’s the same power that keep people at the bottom.
A lot of people confuse motivation with internal drive. They say they don’t want any motivation, nor do they want to listen to a motivational speaker. They know what they’re doing, and know how to handle life. God has made us powerful enough to overcome the challenges we face everyday, but there may also be problems that baffle us and for which we’re unable to find any solution at all.
In such situations, we need to counsel with an expert, who can advice us on what and how to do. A doctor visits another doctor for a routine check up not because he can’t do it by himself, but there are chances that he may overlook a lot of possibilities. The best person to motivate us is our closest friend. He can point out our mistakes very clearly without the fear of hurting us.
Motivation is not something that we require once in a year or just before setting our goals for the quarterly appraisal and promotion. Motivation is a daily activity just like brushing your teeth daily. Is the force of gravity ever absent for a day? So then why should our opposing force to negativity be absent?
Over the last two years with my interaction with various people, I’ve seen that some of them just dont like to be motivated. They dont wish to pump in positives, even when situations around them are such that drain their energy. They wish to be like a log of wood in water. Dr. David J Schwartz in his book “The Magic of Thinking BIG” explains people like the log of wood are the ‘Me too’ categories. They do well when times are good, just like lot of my friends who entered the stock trading when all was well, but when tough times come they fall behind whilst the smart ones make their presence felt.
Motivation is something that can remove the negative energies from your system. If negative forces pull you down and keep you from attempting something, the power of motivation can help you overcome it and fly to glory. Motivation is nothing but the surge of positive energy like love, care, affection, self-realization etc. The more positive you are, the more the negatives you’ll be able to overcome.
If you are genuinely interested in helping others, you become a motivator by nature. There is no better way to help others, than by giving them love, hope and affection. Hopefully you can make a difference in your life by subscribing to the world of motivation
